Essie Gel Couture range, which launched successfully last year, is bringing us a new collection of six magnificently neutral, long wearing creme nudes, this January. With shades named aptly for the ‘Gel Couture Ballet Nudes collection’ ranging from a misty rose pink, to a soft shimmering grey.
We took the chance to wear all five (out of six) of the shades shown, altogether to get the most from the pastel delights, and giving us a potential outfit matching shade on at least on nail per hand!
Satin Slipper:a feminine silky champagne ivory. Lace Me Up: A misty rose pink. Hold the position: A fierce Coral rose pink. At the Barre: Soft Cinnamon Nude (not worn), Perfect Posture: A Periwinkle Powder Blue & Closing Night: A soft shimmery grey.
Satin Slipper, is one of our faves, Its a great soft colour to wear, all year round, and especially now, as we endure the chilly cold into the early spring, giving a rest too from the party glitters and Christmas reds! Plus we are huge fans of the coral – Hold the Position, and the Periwinkle – Perfect Posture. We only need to add a couple of colour coats, and one top coat, and this beautiful collection lasts easily for a week, with no UV or LED curing, no chips and glamorously glossy nails. (Plus, you can remove them with normal polish remover, no fuss, no stain, On Pointe nails.
Available instore and online at Boots & Superdrug from Friday, 20th January 2017.

We get fed up when our ordinary polish takes a long time to dry and chips after only a few days, so we were pleasantly surprised when this little kit (SensatioNail polish to gel transformer starter kit, £49.99, Boots) turned up at our desks last week. A gel kit like no other which turns your normal favourite nail polishes into super shiny long lasting gel polish.
The kit is very compact and cute unlike other gel starter kits that we’ve used before and very quick to use. The only thing we’d like added to the kit would be remover. – Alternatively we use Elegant Touch Get ‘em off Nail Remover, £2.65, Boots [find it here]which is cheap and fantastic at removing all gel polish and much much cheaper than most too! The kit makes it easy to mix up the polish, and you use a lot less polish than you do re dipping into the bottle everytime which means your fave colours will last you a lifetime! Application was swift – we completed one hand at a time for the fastest and best results, and after 12 days our nails are still going strong!
The SensatioNail polish to gel transformer starter kit includes: 1 x LED nail lamp; 1 x USB lead; 1 x UK mains adapter; 1 x Gel cleanser (14.6ml); 1 x Gel primer (3.54ml); 1 x Polish to gel transformer (7.39ml); 1 x Mixing pot; 1 x Manicure stick; 12 x lint free wipes; 1 x Double sided nail buffer

Ginger_Talks: NAILED London by Rosie Fortescue, The review…
So today we review the brand new NAILED London collection – a patented revolutionary 3-step system, developed to closely match the look, feel, wear and gloss of a professional gel polish – all without the hassle of a UV-cured in salon gel manicure.
First up: Rosie’s step-by-step guide…
Use: Nailed London Base Coat, £7
Ingredients Epoxy Resin and Polyvinyl Butyral form a mesh-like base to help bind the lacquer, and an optical Brightener helps to bring damaged nails back to life.
Use: Nailed London Lacquer, £7
Exclusive Dual Polymer Technology delivers a long lasting, durable, high shine finish. Volcanic Glass provides strength during application, Shellac helps to protect nails and a plant derived, patented plasticizer provides flexibility to lacquer. Only one coat is required due to the high percentage of pigment.
Use: Nailed London Top Coat, £7
This advanced topcoat completes the ‘self-cured gel-like’ manicure. Acrylic provides non-yellowing properties that help preserve and protect the manicure and ensures a wet-look finish.
“We absolutely love this nail collection… Easy to apply & quick drying, this makes it a wonder product for us! We tried ‘Thigh High Club, £7′ and the colour is lovely, rich in pigment as promised and definitely a competitor for in salon gel polishes! It stays glossy, and stays put on the nail for days… we are on day four and still no chips! We look forward to trying ‘Noodle Nude, £7′ as soon as its time to take this one off 🙂 – Even though at the moment we dont want to!”
Ginger_Talks: Rosie Fortescue talks about her new collection NAILED London
Launching this week, Nailed London from MIC’s Rosie Fortescue, is a revolutionary new nail range with a gel-like lacquer system. Available in 28 catwalk inspired shades with four glitter effect polishes.
Why have you launched a nail colour range?
For as long as I can remember, nail varnish has been something that I have been obsessed with. I probably change my nail colour around twice a week and it has become a major part of my beauty routine.
Where did you get your inspiration?
I wanted to create a nail range that had colours to suit everyone. Whether you wear a nude, pale pink, bright or pastel shade, there is something in the collection for you. The glitters are a fantastic way to jazz up a colour for a night out too!
Was it just as important to have a high tech formulation as well as amazing colours?
Yes absolutely. I know when I see a good nail varnish from years of painting my own nails, so for me a colour that lasted without chipping was essential.
How did you decide on the colours?
I tried to bring in colours from my life andmy own inspiration into the collection. Iwas inspired by everything around me,from the pink of a rose, the grey from adress on the LFW catwalk and even thename of my dog Noodle.
“From start to finish I’ve been involved in every aspect of developing this fantastic range. I hope you love it as much as I do!” Rosie Fortescue
